How to post your job on LinkedIn?

When it comes to finding talent and young talent through social media, no platform compares to LinkedIn’s recruitment capabilities, which aggregate relevant information for you on millions of its regular users. After going over recruiting through a professional LinkedIn company page, we gathered several recruitment tools for you. The pool of quality candidates on LinkedIn is shrinking, which is the reason to use tools that will help you recruit employees and put you several steps ahead of competing companies looking to recruit talented people. In this article, we will talk about job posting and employee recruitment with advanced tools. But first, it is important to understand why using tools is optimal.

How does using tools assist us in the recruitment process?

Many companies and corporations choose to focus their recruitment efforts on social networks in general and on LinkedIn in particular. Alongside recruiting through your company page and recruiting using paid tools, there are free tools and aids that can be used to find talent for your company. The reasons we would want to use tools of this type are because these tools help us screen candidates and their skills to find the most suitable employee for the job we are advertising. In addition, with recruitment in such a process, we can try out a free tool or a condensed version before making a purchase of an expanded paid recruitment tool.

Recruitment Tools on LinkedIn

1. Career Page

In light of the increased use of LinkedIn by potential job candidates, many companies have chosen to transition from a standard LinkedIn company page to a Career Page. A Career Page provides users with more information about the company and available roles within the company than a standard company page. LinkedIn Career Pages were created to give companies the ability to share additional information with potential candidates on LinkedIn. This page is essentially a condensed version of a career page on corporate websites. The advantage of using a LinkedIn Career Page is increasing the company’s reach to more suitable candidates. Because many job seekers use LinkedIn, it is an easier way to get them to learn more about the company and its needs without even visiting the website. With personalized jobs based on potential candidates’ skills, they are likely to find a job faster and be a better fit for the role.
Keep in mind that a Career Page costs quite a bit of money and is not suitable for small companies – but it is a must for large companies that want to showcase the company, its employees, and its successes, and attract quality hires. Here, for example, is Microsoft’s Career Page:

2. Jobs Tool

You can create job postings on LinkedIn to advertise open positions in your company or business to the general public. Job seekers can search for and find these opportunities on LinkedIn. You can post one job for free or use paid job promotion to expand reach, but using the free option is great to start. A free job posting will expire within 30 days from the moment it is posted. To post your first job for free on LinkedIn, follow these steps:

  • Click on the briefcase icon (Jobs)
  • Click on Post a job
  • Click on the company name for which you want to post the job
  • Click on the job post from the list of previously posted jobs or post a new one by clicking on Create new job.
  • If you already have a link to your job post, click Back to paste the link to the job in the What do you want to talk about? section, and if you are creating a new job post, enter the job title, company name, job location, job type, description, and screening questions (optional).
  • Click on Post job for free

To add more than one job, you must pay for job promotion through the job creation interface; the cost is roughly 40-50 NIS per day minimum. Adding a budget to a job post will help you target the ad to relevant users, increase the ad’s reach, and receive a larger volume of potential candidates for the position. Promoting the ad will show the post at the top of LinkedIn search results with a Promoted badge when a user searches for a job in the same industry, and in addition, it will also appear at the top of job recommendations on LinkedIn. If you want to purchase a large volume of job postings – you need to contact the LinkedIn team. 3. LinkedIn Talent Hub

LinkedIn users can use LinkedIn Talent Hub to post open positions at their companies. These job postings are searchable by job seekers on LinkedIn and will be recommended to potential candidates via the job recommendations feature. Using LinkedIn Talent Hub is not free, but paid. However, this LinkedIn option has a demo version that can be used if it fits your needs – for small to medium-sized companies and businesses, the demo option will be great for ongoing use as well. The tool allows you to manage all applications and resumes received through the system and connect the LinkedIn system to external tools for screening and tracking jobs.

4. Free InMail

There is an option on LinkedIn to send InMail within the platform to users without paying for targeted InMail ads. In order to send InMail messages to potential recruits without paying the platform, the users receiving the message will need to have a Premium membership, which allows them to receive InMail messages at no cost to senders, helping them become candidates for a wider variety of jobs and employers. Users’ premium accounts contain an optional feature called Open Profile Message. These users can be identified by a gold badge on their profile next to their name. This way, you can send job opportunities to users who are not in your connections list via InMail without paying for ads. Another way is to use Recruiter, more on that below.

Note: It is important to note that LinkedIn strives for users to use paid InMail ads for recruitment ads through paid LinkedIn advertising, so it sometimes displays the users’ premium badge only when viewing the user’s full LinkedIn profile and not on a minimized user card. Therefore, to save on recruiting, you need to search deeply within the platform for premium users.

5. Recruiter

LinkedIn Recruiter is one of LinkedIn’s recruitment tools. It is a tool that allows you to reduce your recruiting time on LinkedIn with relevant insights you receive about users on the platform, advanced search filters, and recommended matches to prioritize users who are more open to receiving an offer from you. In addition, besides the full version (LinkedIn Recruiter), you can purchase a condensed version of the tool called LinkedIn Recruiter Lite, which is suitable for small to medium-sized businesses with low-volume hiring needs. In the full version of LinkedIn Recruiter, you get access to more details and users within the LinkedIn network compared to the Lite version, which does not allow you to use a shared management panel during work, limits you to 30 InMail messages for recruiting only without shared sending, and many other features. The cost of LinkedIn Recruiter is $8,999 per year, while the Lite version will cost you $170 per month.

In Conclusion

Recruiting quality employees is a tedious task for business owners and companies. The recruitment process requires you to review each user and check their fit for your company. Alongside the excellent tools LinkedIn has to offer for paid recruitment, we also presented in the article several quality solutions that can be used at no cost at all or at a negligible cost compared to the cost of expanded advertising tools on LinkedIn. Using these tools, even in their free versions, will help you recruit high-level employees for your company and significantly shorten the recruitment process.
