As social media managers, we want to manage clients’ advertising accounts in separate accounts, and not under our personal account. In order to do this, the client must grant us permissions to the Facebook advertising account. In addition, granting permissions to an ad account is useful when we want to give others access to our ad account, or when we have multiple ad accounts and want to control all of them from a single account.
We can get access to manage the Facebook page, to our personal Facebook account, or to our Business Manager account. Of course, if we work with multiple clients, we will want everything to be managed under one Business Manager. In the following article, we will review the options, granting access, and more.
How to grant ad account permissions to Business Manager?
If we work with several clients simultaneously and want to manage accounts in an organized manner in one place, we will need a Business Manager account. Go to the following link in Business Manager, and select our Business account; if none exists, we will need to open a new account.
1. Next, go to Ad Accounts and click on Add
2. Next, several options will open for us:
Add an Ad Account – Add an existing ad account. Please note that this is an irreversible process and the account will be associated with your Business forever – not recommended!
Request Access to an Ad Account – Request access to an existing ad account
Create a New Ad Account – Create a new ad account
Of course, we will choose our preferred option and enter the account ID we wish to add / request access to
How to grant ad account permissions to a personal Facebook user?
If we work from our personal Facebook account, we can get access via a quick and easy action as follows:
1. Click on the following link
2. On the screen that opens, click on Add people
3. Add the name of the account holder:
4. Decide on the role of the person added to the account:
Ad account admin – An admin can create, edit, and view campaigns, access reports, edit payment methods, and manage account permissions.
Ad account advertiser – An advertiser can create, edit, and view campaigns, and can view payment methods in the account
Ad account analyst – An analyst can only view ads and reports and cannot make changes to campaigns
5. Click on Confirm
That’s it!
Afterwards, in the Ads Manager, you will see that a new account has been added and you can choose which account to fund each campaign from. Make sure when you advertise that you are using the correct account. Make sure to assign the correct permissions to everyone in the account.
